Quote:While the 83156 fix itself can be considered minor, it was done in quite sensitive area of code (it can affect what targets does or does not AI engage anywhere in the game), if the fix is to stay in the game, extensive testing is needed now, especially in campaign missions and other complex missions, to confirm some key aspect of the AI target selection is not broken by the fix.

I have to post this. I found the latest Arma2 beta patch changelog quite amusing and it raised some additional questions:

Quote:Fixed: AI units no longer firing at empty enemy vehicles

OK, so how many times "AI firing on empty vehicles" has already been fixed now? I've lost count. Better luck now?

Quote:Fixed: AI no longer considering a car horn as a threat.

Yeah, I know car horns are annoying. So does this mean the enemy AI won't anymore shoot you when you honk horn at them - instead they have learned to be polite and just give you the Finger?  ;D

Quote: Fixed: AI no longer using AA against ground targets or guided missiles against soft targets unless desperate

I wanna see how AI looks when get "desperate". Can you tell it from their faces?

Funny stuff, gotta love BIS..  ;D Looking forward to next official/full patch.

and btw. use this new thread also for future discussions on A2 beta patches
Laughs aside, if these features will be fixed from now it would be a significant improvement.

Exactly, and have you seen the logs of all other fixes since the latest official patch # 79384 ? Looks very promising

Heck, now you made me laugh  ;D
Did you see that? That's great!

Quote:[78153] New: Ctrl+F1..Ctrl+F5 assigns unit to team red/green/blue/yellow/white.
[78150] Changed: Shift-F1..Shift-F5 select corresponding color team (red/green/blue/yellow/white)
Change [78150] has been possible for a long time. I wonder what exactly was changed?

What's really annoying is what Variable complained about the other week in a coop night: when you select a unit/player with F2, F3... the default action is "Attack" not "Move".

I didn't even know they changed this... good to know. Before the change for example, let's say you had 2,3,4 in blue team, then you could have pressed Shift+F2 (first man) to select the whole blue team. This doesn't appear to be working anymore.

What do you mean with Default? the quick command menu? It usually gives Move There command unless I point the cursor at some target.
the beta fixes just keep coming - here's some picks, sounds great:

Quote:[83759]  Fixed: AI not engaging through glass and other penetrable surfaces (http://dev-heaven.net/issues/4438)
[83721]  Fixed: AI no longer seeing through dense grass (http://dev-heaven.net/issues/5785)
[83390]  Fixed: Most units had maximum skill, ignoring values set in the mission (http://dev-heaven.net/issues/4483)
[83273]  Changed: Temporarily abandoned vehicles are no longer considered neutral (AI continues engaging them)
[83471]  Fixed: AI units often not engaging close enemies (http://dev-heaven.net/issues/18951, http://dev-heaven.net/issues/22935)
Did we just run into bug #83471 last night with that bush-lurker guy on Utes? He didnt' fire in close range.
And I doubt that bug #83721 is really fixed. Of course this relate to M¤ server, not Linux as we run.

Not any more, at least for me. Right now, during the mission (at some point I can't confirm which, maybe after targets are detected or fighting starts) the cursor default command becomes "engage". This is really annoying.

Yay!  They finally fixed the gear in briefing!
