Something else that I'm not sure if anyone mentioned is with Linux all of your files need to be in lowercase. (cfg. files, addons, misisons...etc.)

I hope so - I forwarded UDP ports 2302 and 2303 (in addition to some others I can't remember right now). I'm not sure if Ubuntu automatically establishes a firewall when it's set up, so I'll check into that and open up those ports, as well, if need be. As for the lower-case thing, I thought it happened automatically as part of the setup. I skimmed through the files and folders, and they all looked to be lower-case.

DMZ is short for Demilitarized Zone (or something near it). What it does is to disable firewall at that specific IP, nice tool to check firewall issues. Ubuntu does install firewall as default (called Armour or AppArmour), it's possible to disable it too.
The lower-case thing as you call it
is done once when you install the server but if you add ./tolower in your start-script it convert file names (if any) every time server start.Wanna send me your settings file and I'll have a quick look into it (and log-file too)?

Well, it appears that I managed to get this server running and visible in GameSpy and OFPWatch (cf. O-Board thread).
Server name: ATS

It's vanilla OFP. Please, give it a try and let me know how it works for you.
It's been a fun and frustrating project (mostly fun) - lots of learning. I'll be getting some additional work done on it - ongoing. . .
