You forgot to mention a small catch, both ArmA 2 and ACE MOD ain't yet fully developed. And for ACE you need to delete ALL your userconfigs before you update it (which is by DL the whole mod again)

But you can use Six Updater to automatically update ACE, I tried it and it seems to work, it just download particular updated files, not whole ACE package.
Or, alternatively, Yoma Addon Sync 2009, so you can easely synchronize your mod folders with server where you wish to play.
