I posted about it on the BI forums to gain more exposure.

edit: also happened when playing vanilla ArmA3.
I made a mission locally with Zeus using the CiA addons, placing tons of stuff etc. and while the lag was spectacular, no crash or temps above 65°C.
I'm starting to think it's ArmA3, I verified the game data cache and redownloaded 480 bytes of something, not sure it was that.

Was fine for a week using another PSU, switched back to old one, happening again.
Is the PSU on its way out or could it still be something else?

Well, why do you suspect anything other than the PSU if replacing it fixed the problem?

Agreed with Variable, the PSU looks like an almost 100% bet. Probably one of the currents breaks down under load.

I had the same problems with my psu one. I ran a monitor and it showed one rail using power. It definitely is the PSU

That it might just be underpowered to run my CPU, GPU and the rest together, although if it was, wouldn't that show up sooner?

That's pretty much on the edge when it comes to modern graphics cards/CPU. Most people use kilowatt powersupplies in the meantime. I think mine has 850 or so.

I have 550 here and everything works fine. I don't think Outlawz' power supply is on edge with a 650W

Varanon had a 550 Watts PSU, and found out that his machine was slower than mine - framerates in Arma 3 were almost half of mine. Upon examination, it turned out that the GeForce driver throttled the card because of lack of power. Once he got a new PSU, the problem went away.
So I am quite sure that from experience, this can be an issue. It depends on the components - for example, I do have quite a number of disks (four plus SSD) which will increase the power requirements. The board can do similar draw.
It also depends on the PSU itself. The wattage alone isn't the whole truth. It's also how much drain the individual rails can take. I know that some PSU's that have sufficient Watts have a 12 Volt rail that breaks down quickly under load.
To be on the safe side, a high quality PSU or one with enough watts is a requirement IMO.

I have to add, I ran a hardware monitor that could watch the PSU's voltages, and it showed that the 12V rail was breaking down frequently. The graphics card monitoring complained about power outages.
So, yeah, the PSU is the culprit. And I would guess the problem is a hardware fault. Mine worked fine at first, too.
In any case, does anyone still doubt that the crashes were caused by the PSU ?

I did look back at the discussion about my upgrade on this forum and realized Horus suggested a 750W, but I got 650 for some reason or another (looking at my email, apparently they ran out of 750s at Christmas).
Should I still try to claim warranty or get a new one?
