You can bypass the typeOf limitation like this:
"Man" countType [_unit] > 0
Return true if _unit class inherits from class "Man", false if not.
You can't use delays in functions because they block execution of everything else (ie if you would somehow create a 1s delay in a function, the game would freeze for 1s). With scripts you should use delays as much as possible because that generally makes them use less CPU.
