Fast forward four months and I find:
- Arma 3 now performs much better in mp, at least for me
- lots of new faces ready for teamwork and that's nice
- 3 out of 4 times I died like a noob
Castle Wolfstein:
First, let me aplogize for taking some time to figure Task Force radio, turns out I have indeed forgoten some things after not playing for some time. And of course, I haven't been prepared for informational overflow so it must have been weirdly mixing up Striker and Stryker, not answering to some prompts but answering where nobody asked anything.
I didn't see and still don't how to approach objective. I though that pounding the village from afar will at least reduce the number of infantry inside of it to acceptible level to enter it, but they still kept coming from the castle, I guess. And unlike many other situations before, enemies were not keen to approach our positions going into the open and making themselves nice targets. They mostly remained in the village instead or were probably getting killed before they had chance to go out.
And I saw no particular terrain features that would provide better tactical approach, so instead I opted for going head on to the objective. Additinal factor for the decision was also that I wanted to make up for the lost time while regrouping and figuring out the radio.
It did not end so well, but at least we had cohesion till many died after attempting to enter the village. And I was down just as I popped into the village. Met 3-4 infantry in the street and you can't beat AI's reflexes.
Was planning to write about other missions as well, but it's getting late, for sure I don't wanna be sleepy for the coop tomorrow!
I never gave a damn 'bout the meter man, 'til I was the man who had to read the meters, man
