Operation Foobar
As Group leader and leading Alpha, we loaded up into the two vehicles at our starting point on the East of the island, in order to advance towards the helicopter, which we had to steal so that our pilot, Outlawz, could fly us towards the airfield in the West and assist Bravo with the objectives.
Advancing up the road, the gunner in the lead vehicle spotted some infantry targets but soon took care of them. We parked in the forest, dismounted and used the cover of the trees to move towards the base where the chopper was. As we climbed the hill to the rocks, a couple of enemy vehicles opened fire but luckily they had only spotted and were firing on our parked vehicles (I think I left the AI in them!). We weren't going to need them again, so we left them to it and carried on.
Approaching the base, we spotted a vehicle, probably one of those that destroyed ours, driving around in the distance but it wasn't a threat so I decided to leave it until we had secured the base. It was only lightly defended, so didn't take long to clear and then we returned our attention to the enemy vehicles, that might pose a threat to the chopper. Once the vehicle to the South was taken out, giving us a clear route to fly out of the base, we took off and proceeded West, spotting a few enemies on the radar but not much the gunners could shoot at, as the visibility was very poor.
We landed on the West coast, to avoid getting shot down whilst we waited for Bravo to take care of the Marids and had barely disembarked when an enemy vehicle was on top of us. Some quick reflexes from my team took out the gunner and then Varanon destroyed the vehicle with his AT. I radioed Bravo to inform them we were safe, only to learn that they were all down and in urgent need of assistance.
So we jumped back in the chopper and Outlawz flew us to the Southern end of the airfield, hoping to be able to thin out some of the enemy with our gunners but once again, poor visibility hampered us. We were coming under fire, so we quickly landed, disembarked and started moving towards Bravo. There was still 3-4 infantry about 30m away from them but they remained unaware of us until we got to Bravo and started patching them up. Once we'd killed the infantry and Bravo was back on their feet, they wired up the Marids and we moved to safety before detonating. At this point, we split up again to take care of the remaining objectives quicker, with Bravo going North and Alpha moving East to clear the harbour. Before we'd gone far however, we got a request from Bravo to assist them by suppressing a patrol to the North. It was hard for us to spot them through the fog and mindful of the risk of friendly fire, we had to wait for the patrol to move before we could safely engage but eventually the NE area seemed clear, so we left Bravo to proceed with their objective whilst we returned to ours.
We only encountered light resistance at the harbour, so soon cleared that and then moved towards the runway to destroy the mortars. This was easy as each mortar only had the one guy on it and we didn't see any sign of them firing. We had a bit of trouble getting the task to tick for some reason but it came up eventually. In the meantime Bravo had been clearing the centre of the airfield and that was soon done as well. Mission complete
God job everyone. The only issue I had was when the two teams split up and we set each other's freq as an alternate channel. This results in both squad leaders hearing all the other squad's radio traffic, so what we should do in future is just pick a random, unused freq, say 200 and both set that as our alternate. Then we'll only transmit to the other team when we press T to use the alternate channel.
I actually forgot that Bravo only had four people in it, whilst Alpha had eight including Outlawz, so it's all the more impressive that they managed to clear the centre of the base on their own. I should probably have moved both teams together but I was mindful of not dragging the mission out and thought it would be quicker to split up. Had I known that the harbour and mortar objectives were going to be so easy though, I would have kept us together.
If the visibility had been better, it might have been an idea to use the chopper to cover Bravo whilst they dealt with the Marid objective but as it was, I don't think we would have been able to help without getting so close that we risked getting shot down.

I thought this was very nicely done and enjoyed the briefing coming from the tannoy at the start. I didn't last long on this one and got killed by the chopper I think. Our squad could have done with an AT guy but we were short and got stuck with the AI in that slot. I don't think we could have done without the MG (my slot) as there were quite a few infantry to deal with and it probably would have been a bad idea to go without the medic, so there wasn't really much we could do about it.
