Core Advance
Sorry for the confusion with my APC. When we spotted the tanks my gunner told me he didn't think his weapons (i.e MG) would be very effective against them, so I reported that but then I remembered he'd told me at the start of the mission that he had a couple of Titan missiles and when I checked and he confirmed this, I updated my report and told him to use them! He got a couple of hits on the tanks but didn't manage to destroy them unfortunately. We actually had a couple more Titans in the vehicle's inventory and whilst we obviously should be able to load those into the vehicle's weapon, as far as we were both aware that's not possible.
With the steep inclines and sudden drops down the other side, along with the driver's limited vision, it was quite tricky trying to navigate and follow Manuel (or even the red line) without a GPS. Although the driver can't use it whilst driving, I think I could have switched to the Commander's seat to do so, maybe after turning out, so it would have been handy to have but my gunner had a much better view of the terrain and was able to help guide me, so we managed to stay on course. Just got unlucky taking that hit to the side which destroyed us. It was rather annoying that you came to try and save us and reached us in time but we all still died. If we're going to die, just kill us already without wasting other people's time coming to try and save us! Ah well, hopefully we'll have a more nuanced medical/injury system one day.
Blood Lines
Different pilot, different LZ from last time but we were still unlucky and came under fire from something (BTR?) just as we came into land. I pulled everyone away from the threat and regrouped behind a nearby building to see if we could take it out with our AT but we couldn't get a good line of sight. So I instructed Den, our UAV operator, to see if he could target it but after 5 minutes of him trying to work it out, it turned out he didn't have the DLC so couldn't connect to the RDs! I asked Valhalian, who did have the DLC, to take the UAV stuff but Den disconnected before he could do that, so I gave my UAV terminal to Val but he found it a bit confusing as the names in the terminal didn't match those on the map and I don't think he managed to locate any targets. Someone else with the DLC managed to find Den's terminal but didn't have any better luck and I don't think he found the actual UAV bag, so we never got to launch that. Eventually we moved up to the ridge and spotted a couple of infantry and a single tank, which I lased with my LD but there were no more support missions available and shortly after, the mission ended in defeat.
It might be useful if someone could knock up a very basic SP mission with a single UAV operator with the Raven and terminal and a couple of RDs and maybe a target or two to lase, so that people can learn how to use them offline rather than having to try to work it out on co-op nights. Maybe they can just use Blood Lines for this though, if they can launch the UAV and connect to the RDs from the starting position, in which case they can just copy it from their Users/x/AppData/Local/Arma3/MPMissionsCache folder to the MPMissions folder in their Arma3 install folder.
Lost Squad
Always enjoy this mission, simple but still good fun. Good leading by Variable as always. I was a bit worried the helo was going to get hit by whatever was shooting at it whilst we were waiting for everyone to board but it turned out OK.
Operation Red Tiger
I guess we need to try and thin out the resistance a bit more before the infantry advance on the target, as there always seems to be a couple of enemy lurking round the corner that take half of us out. Obviously taking out the AA and keeping the Blackfoot alive are going to be key.
PMC Versus mission 13: Operation Ultio Obtingens
I doubt we would have found the last vehicle and infantry if we hadn't cheated, they were right near the edge of the map and we probably wouldn't have even looked there if we didn't know. We heard the vehicle first and then crept over the ridge to spot it. It's turret was facing west, so some of us tried to flank towards it from the east but I guess the infantry spotted them and suddenly the turret swung round and shot us all.
I found it impossible using the AA on this mission, as switching to the sights turned off the nightvision and I couldn't see a thing. Same with the AT most of the time, it was only after Alwarren shot those tanks and they blew up that I could actually see something to aim at! It wasn't great with NVG on either, as the fog tended to make everything blur into a green mush although it varied and sometimes it was OK.
