Fun Throwback Thursday. All the missions were brand new to me. I hope it wasn't boring to you vets.
PMCVSORI -1,2
Two great missions. Unfortunately at first mission the swamp caused graphic issues. When we snuck on the camp I couldn't see a damn thing when looking to swamps direction. I had to shoot from the hip from BMP but it got blown to pieces.
Second mission was also foggy but no swamp this time. It had fun atmosphere and good infantry action with vehicle support.
I really liked setup of these missions. Short simple but challenging snacks (at least these two). They also had good well formatted briefings and interesting story. I like to know why I am going to field , who I am, who am I up against. I like briefings. 8)
Foehammer
I was a machinegunner in Evans' team. They promised me action. They told me I get to shoot shitload of people. I had BSOD pre-traumatic stress reaction. When I reconnected it was too late. My biggest challenge was running down the stairs of doom. Waah. I want my money back from enlistment office and a re-run. Well, a re-run will do.
My team was on rear guard outside and we saw Apache taking HMG hits from the north and it going down. Den said he has vision of crash site, maybe 400-500m. However evac helo had landed and my team was to board the helicopter. Variable was crawling (or running due bug) next to evac chopper (Apache gunner) so I assumed Alwarren too was dead as he wasn't there. Lots of confusion with stupid AI boarding helo and lift off.
Greenback Mountain [FHQ]
Beef with potatoes. Tough, chaotic, and lots of stress. One won't expect anything less from FHQer.
I was demolition spec in Alwarren's team with Suchy and ALIAS. Night was dark and full of (t)errors. Lots of grainy night vision, bit of fog? and plenty of challenges for situational awareness. Action at barn was juicy. We had vehicle, multiple infantry contacts in forest, lots of fire and confusion. I don't know who killed the vehicle but he probably saved us. We spotted number of contacts in treeline and forest beyond and traded shots with them. Misha called in mortar fire on Alwarren's request. It helped but didn't eliminate the threat entirely.
We started pushing towards objective, amidst confusion. Alwarren kept my team in relatively compact formation so I knew where my team buddies were. That was a very, very good thing. However during transit we had other teams here and there. It was small miracle we didn't get any blue on blue during the gauntlet in the forest. Lots of bushes, trees and only way for me to spot targets were muzzle flashes. In one instance I was being shot at from the left and got wounded. I returned fire and saw it was friendly. Too far to ID with Mk4 and I am not blaming anyone. It just was a genuine circus.Â
Radio tower was tough cookie. I never saw it as I was killed while storming the objective. We managed to survive until main gate where enemy machine gunner shot us through the bush. Got a nice screenshot of it. There is NFW he saw us but he heard us. Nothing wrong in suppressive fire but that wasn't the case. I observed this at close range. He didn't see a shit, but as soon Alwarren CRAWLED past the fence, he opened up. Very good hearing ^^ . Happens.
Awesome mission. Real stress test to leaders. In hind sight we probably should have pushed from barn faster, using mortar liberally to clear the forest of rabble and open the way and then just move in somewhat compact form. This isn't criticism to any leader and I honestly don't know if it had been any better. Most of our casualties were during storming the objective anyway, not in the forest run. This was tough as nails mission to anyone who was in charge, especially Misha who had lots of teams to handle.
Oh. I liked the Monet's painting on load screen.
