Panthera Island - Scorched Earth.

Was derping around in Eden trying to come up with something and made a small prototype with single player tasks.


Story. RHS Russians (Players) + ai hold Arnoldstein airfield. American Motorized forces are attacking from south of airfield and German infrantry from north and east of Arnoldstein. RHS USAF destroy nearby antenna cutting contact with HQ. HQ presumes infantry KIA. HQ wants to blow up (RHS Nuke/Mortar/Artillery/Air Strikes) that part of the island (Airfield and Arnoldstein) not to allow it to fall into RHS American/CUP Germans hands. Russian AI remain to defend airfield and players are sent to Arnoldstein.

Players are 3x 5 man assorted RHS groups.

Objective. Deploy purple smoke simultanously on 5 big buildings (Town Hall, Firestation, Offices, Construction, Apartment Complex) to allow friendly russian air assets to 'spot' it before Timer (E.G 10 minutes) runs out, showing that you're still alive/cancel bombing. (Enemies are German Infantry that is throughout the city and more coming from beaches).


Success. Smokes deployed, friendly Air instead start targeting US Mechanized forces. Players watch the fireworks from rooftops. Mission success.


Failure. <5 players alive or Timer runs out which leads to area getting destroyed.


I've attached the single player thing from the Profile>mpmissions folder (not sure if it's the one that's correct) if you want to gain an idea of units positions/tasks.
I have an idea for a lost squadish type of mission.

Ground team starts near a random village, city or military base. Their main objective is to take over the local base/HQ and activate a antenna/radio beacon which reveals their position on the map. The base should be lightly guarded but once the beacon is activated reinforcements consisting of ground troops and vehicles will start pouring in.

The ground team is only equipped with short range radio so communication with air team is only possible once they have reached the location. Air would consist of pick up helo and one or two CAS. Maybe one armed bird and an A10. Ground team would have to fight of reinforcements and secure a suitable LZ with the help of CAS.

Urban combat with CAS and hot extractions, effectively three birds stoned at once
Ambush a soft vehicle convoy with no AT or explosives, just loads of bullets (and maybe an under barrel or two). How cool would that be? Smile
It will require detailed planning, more than we are used to, that's for sure.
Now that I think of that..


I update Without Banners (not yet completed) like that. No AT or explosives. Just underbarrel AK and small arms. It is first NAPA mission so it would make sense they don't have the hardware until they ambush the convoy.

Stag, I wouldn't. Honestly. The mission is absolutely great as it is, it was one of the best I've played in a long time. Please don't modify it

Fly Catcher, one of the best missions of all times, would have been completely changed if we didn't gunpoint Varanon Big Grin

I have to agree with the others. Don't change it. Rather, make a new one Smile
Besides, I already started a mission like what Variable proposed, incidentially the continuation of the Flycatcher/Finders Keepers plotline.

To keep operating the Gorgon you stole, you need to stop an ammo truck. No heavy weapons, just a. 50 with 5 rounds which you habe to use to stop the truck and it's escort.

That's a great idea, but a different one Smile
When I am imagining is a close quarter ambush with calibers in a size up to typical assault rifles.

It could be good for an addon version with the planes split between CAS and CAP versions.
Problem with planes is that we got even less pilots for planes than for helicopters

I've always liked the idea of a mission where most of the players are in one team, something BluFor, and then there is one, maybe 2 players on GreenFor with high command over a platoons worth of AIs, with it balanced such that you need the AI's help to win it, but they can't win it on their own. Sort of like a BluFor mentoring team sort of thing. Then between the comms problems between blu and green and the problems herding cats (making the AI do what you need it to do), it could turn out to be an interesting mission.
Would love to play as Chinese Vipers and the Syndikat. Just, please, no visible manly feet... Smile
